BotBlox ARIES (Active Register Interface for Ethernet Switches) is a GUI software designed to configure the behavior of BotBlox ethernet switches. This software can be used to implement managed and lightly managed capabilities on BotBlox ethernet switch.
The software and its pre-requisites are freely available at no cost, and can be run on any Windows PC. ARIES enables the user to configure the BotBlox ethernet switch either with the graphical user interface, or by generating external serial commands that can be exported for configuring the device without the use of ARIES.
BotBlox ARIES is able to set both volatile (lost on power cycle) and non-volatile (retained on power cycle) configurations on BotBlox boards. The specific capabilities of the current version of ARIES is limited to the capabilities of SwitchBlox Industrial, which can be viewed in the link below.
3 Management capabilities of SwitchBlox Industrial
BotBlox ARIES is a new piece of software, meaning that its operation is tested but not fully refined. As such, you may experience situations where the software freezes with a set of specific button presses.
The design of the GUI is also heavily coupled to the internal structure of the registers inside the chip on SwitchBlox Industrial. This makes the software quicker to deploy but makes it less user friendly.
Because of these two facts, we recommend that the user use the software with discretion and awareness of the two facts above. We are actively developing the software and will be upgrading the GUI to be more user friendly, along with allowing the software to support more of our boards.
